Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, SRTI Park for short, was founded in 2016 by royal decree of Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. It was launched to complement University City and sits right next to it. The park's focus sectors are advanced manufacturing, healthcare, sustainability and environmental technology, and mobility and logistics digitalisation, yet its licence menu is wider: commercial, service, industrial and consultancy licences, R&D and innovation permits, and a pool of more than 1,500 activities. One licence can carry up to five compatible activities in one segment, the park's forms say, and no cross-business activity fee applies. You choose an FZE with one shareholder, an FZC with up to five, or a branch of a UAE or foreign company. No local shareholder is required, and most licences carry no mandated paid-up capital.
Money is the first thing to settle. The park's site lists no fees for registration, the licence, offices, labs or visas and sends price questions to its contact page; the amounts printed in its forms cover later changes, such as AED 5,000 for a name change. Visa quotas per office or lab are unpublished as well, so we confirm both with the park before you sign a lease. Since 15 January 2024 the park has accepted audit reports for renewal only from its accredited audit firms. Changes after setup need every party present to sign. Amended documents are released 15 days after the publication notice. Mainland sales take a licensed distributor or a mainland branch or company; a dual licence is listed without published terms. Corporate tax is 9% above AED 375,000 of taxable income, and the free zone 0% applies only to the qualifying income of a Qualifying Free Zone Person.

No fees or visa quotas are published, so we confirm both with the park. Renewal audits must come from an accredited firm, changes need every party present, the 0% needs QFZP status, and mainland sales need a distributor or a mainland branch or company.

What SRTI Park and UAE law actually demand.
From trade name to licence, lease and visas.
The park's own sequence is trade name, initial approval and an action plan, then the memorandum, the lease and the licence. Visas follow through its investor services department, and the bank keeps its own pace.Trade name, initial approval and action plan; then memorandum, lease and licence, as little as 5 working days with documents ready; visas through the park; bank and FTA last.
Activities, licence type, facility and visa numbers checked against the park's quote before you commit.
Trade name approved by the park's Licensing and Registration team, activities picked from the 1,500+ list, then the park's initial approval.
Business plan or project summary, passports and proof of address. Corporate owners add notarised registration papers and a certificate of good standing; a branch adds a notarised and legalised parent resolution. The park then approves your action plan.
Next come the resolution, the memorandum of association and the lease contract; the licence is issued once the preliminary invoice is paid. With every document ready, the park quotes as little as five working days for licence, registration and move-in.
Entry permit, change of status where needed and residence stamping go through the park's investor services department, alongside the medical test and Emirates ID. The entry permit is valid 60 days from issue.
Bank application with your KYC file; corporate tax registration with the FTA within three months of incorporation, which the FTA processes in 20 business days.
Choose the auditor from SRTI Park's accredited list before the first year end. Since 15 January 2024 the park accepts audit reports for licence renewal only from those firms, so a report signed by any other auditor is not accepted for renewal, however clean the accounts.

The park's FAQ says zero corporate tax; federal law sets the conditions.
Corporate tax is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it. A Qualifying Free Zone Person pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on other taxable income, and its conditions include adequate substance in the UAE, transfer pricing compliance, audited accounts and non-qualifying revenue within 5% of total revenue or AED 5,000,000, whichever is lower. For an R&D company, income from qualifying intellectual property is one of the qualifying categories. Small business relief (revenue up to AED 3,000,000) runs to tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029 and is closed to a QFZP. VAT is 5%, registration is mandatory above AED 375,000 and voluntary above AED 187,500, withholding tax is 0% and there is no personal income tax.0% to AED 375,000, 9% above; QFZP 0% on qualifying income only, with audited accounts; VAT 5%; WHT 0%; no personal income tax.
0% up to AED 375,000 of taxable income, 9% above it; return and payment within 9 months of the year end.Above AED 375,000.
On qualifying income only, with substance, audited accounts, transfer pricing and the de minimis test. Miss one and the status is lost for that period and the next four.Qualifying income only.
Mandatory registration above AED 375,000 a year, voluntary above AED 187,500. Designated zone status: not stated by the park.Mandatory above AED 375,000.
0% withholding tax on UAE-sourced income of non-residents, and no personal income tax.Nothing withheld, no PIT.
Rates follow Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on corporate tax and Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017 on VAT, both as amended. SRTI Park does not state VAT designated zone status, and the FTA's Decision No. 12 of 2026 on registration timelines is checked against your dates before we file.

Can I set up an SRTI Park company without travelling to the UAE?+
The park does not say whether setup can run fully at a distance, so we confirm it for your case before you plan any travel. Much of the paperwork happens at home: corporate documents are notarised and, where the park asks, attested, and anything not in English or Arabic is translated and legalised in your country. Visas need you in the UAE for the medical test and Emirates ID. Later changes, such as a new manager or a name change, need every party present to sign.
How much does it cost?+
Our registration work starts from $2,900; with a UAE bank account set up, from $5,400. Zone fees come on top: the zone publishes no price list, so we quote its fees for your case. Renewal is one application for the lease and the licence, and its fee is quoted with your first licence. The park's forms do print some later fees: AED 5,000 for a name change or a share transfer (leased facilities other than plots) and AED 2,000 to add or remove a director. The dirham is pegged at AED 3.6725 to the US dollar.
Is an SRTI Park company tax-free?+
No, although the park's benefits FAQ speaks of zero corporate tax. Federal law applies: 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above, unless the company is a Qualifying Free Zone Person, which pays 0% on qualifying income only. That status needs adequate substance, audited accounts, transfer pricing compliance and non-qualifying revenue within 5% of total revenue or AED 5,000,000, whichever is lower. Fees from mainland or overseas clients count as non-qualifying revenue unless the activity is on the federal list, and so do transactions with individuals, with narrow exceptions. Income from qualifying intellectual property is qualifying income, which matters to R&D companies here. We test your revenue mix before you rely on 0%.
How long does it take?+
With every document ready, SRTI Park quotes as little as five working days for the licence, registration and move-in. The real variable comes earlier: notarising, attesting and translating corporate papers abroad. An employment entry permit is then valid 60 days from issue. Corporate tax registration is due within three months of incorporation, and the FTA processes it in 20 business days. The bank sets its own timetable.
How do I open a bank account?+
The park's partner services include introductions to banks, but each bank runs its own review of source of funds, contracts and the business plan. Our second package builds that file and shortlists UAE banks and EMIs for your profile; we also support the meeting, in person or by video where the bank allows. The bank decides, and we tell you where you stand.
Can an SRTI Park company sell on the UAE mainland?+
Not on its free zone licence alone. The federal portal says a free zone company must either work through a licensed mainland distributor or set up a mainland branch or company. SRTI Park lists a dual licensing option for free zone and mainland, but publishes no terms, fees or mainland authority for it, so we confirm the route before you plan on mainland revenue. Goods moved into the mainland become subject to customs duty, and income of a mainland branch is taxed at 9%, outside the free zone 0%.
Why is there no zone fee on this page?+
Because SRTI Park does not publish one. Its site gives no fees for registration, the licence, offices, labs or visas, and sends price questions to its contact page. The packages it names (Startup, Innovators, Women-in-Tech, University-Student and Real-Estate offices) come without published contents or prices. We get the park's quote for your activities and facility before you pay anything. Once a change request is filed, keep it moving: the park's name-change form says a request not followed up within 30 days may be cancelled, and fees paid are not refunded.
How many visas can I get?+
The park publishes no visa quota per office, lab or package. Its renewal form carries a visa quota field, so we confirm your number with the park before you choose a facility. Only the park's investor services department may process visa applications. The employment guarantee deposit is waived for up to two owners or managers named on the licence who sign the No Claim Declaration, and passports need 8 months' validity for an employment entry permit and 6 months for stamping.
What documents do I need?+
Individual shareholders give a passport copy, specimen signature and proof of address, plus a project summary or business plan. Corporate shareholders add a registration certificate (a notarised copy is accepted), a certificate of good standing and a trade licence copy; a branch also needs the parent's memorandum and articles, its list of directors and a notarised and legalised board resolution. Documents must be in English or Arabic, or translated and legalised in your country, and the park may ask for attestation. The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so plan on legalisation rather than an apostille. Most foreign investors need no NOC; a UAE resident with a visa sponsor may.
What keeps the company in good standing?+
Renew the lease and licence on one application with proof of payment, attested good-standing or registration proof (an approved undertaking for a branch) and passport copies of all shareholders; any audit report must come from one of the park's accredited firms. Keep the shareholder, beneficial-owner and nominee-director registers at the office, file them on the park's e-portal within 15 days of incorporation (the federal resolution allows 60), report changes within 15 days and name a UAE-resident contact person. File the corporate tax return within nine months of the year end. Federal e-invoicing reaches companies under AED 50,000,000 of revenue on 1 July 2027, with a service provider appointed by 31 March 2027.
