Get a crypto license in Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago now has a dedicated VASP Act (2025) - and we read it plainly. It is a transitional regime: a temporary prohibition on virtual-asset service activity, with a TTSEC-run regulatory sandbox as the lawful way to operate while the full framework is built. For most international operators that means a TTSEC sandbox route or a licensed jurisdiction paired alongside, with AML handled through the FIU. We structure it honestly.

Trinidad and Tobago in brief

A VASP Act - but a transitional one, read honestly.

Trinidad and Tobago passed the Virtual Assets and Virtual Asset Service Providers Act in 2025, assented in December 2025, so the picture here has changed - and we describe it as it is, not as older summaries have it. The Act does not open a simple licensing counter. It sets a time-bound prohibition on virtual-asset service activity while the country builds supervisory capacity, an approach it shares with Guyana and Belize. What it preserves is a Regulatory Sandbox, run by the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC), inside which authorised VASPs may keep operating under close monitoring, including AML/CFT/CPF controls. The prohibition does not stop private citizens from holding or transacting crypto for themselves.

So the honest route depends on what you are doing. To run virtual-asset services from Trinidad and Tobago today, the lawful path is TTSEC sandbox authorisation, a properly governed local company and a full AML programme supervised through the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), with the Central Bank (CBTT) relevant on payments and certain tokens potentially treated as securities. For many international operators who need to be live now, the practical answer is to pair a licensed jurisdiction and prepare a Trinidad and Tobago application as the full framework matures. The corporate tax rate is 30%, rising to 35% for some sectors. We assess which path fits, build the compliant structure and track the regime as it develops.

Trinidad and Tobago now has a VASP Act (2025) - honestly read. It is a transitional regime: a temporary prohibition on virtual-asset services, with a TTSEC-run sandbox as the lawful way to operate while the full framework is built.

For services today, the route is TTSEC sandbox authorisation plus FIU AML - or a licensed jurisdiction paired where you need to be live now. Corporate tax is 30%, 35% for some sectors.

Why Trinidad and Tobago

A recent framework, read as it is.

A dedicated VASP Act is now on the books, supervised by an established securities regulator under English common law - but it is transitional, and we are honest about what that allows today.

A real, recent framework

The VASP Act (2025) gives Trinidad and Tobago a defined statutory basis for virtual assets, with the TTSEC as supervisor. The direction is set, even while the full regime is still being built.VASP Act 2025 - a statutory basis, TTSEC as supervisor.

The TTSEC sandbox

The lawful way to run VASP activity during the transition is inside a monitored sandbox - a defined, if narrow, door rather than an unregulated grey zone. A limited number of providers have been recognised in it.The lawful door during the transition - monitored.

English common law

Honest on the transition

A prohibition is in force outside the sandbox, so this is not a set-up-a-company-and-go market. Where you need to be live now, we pair a licensed base and say so plainly.Prohibition outside the sandbox - we pair a licence.

Honest guidance

We read the Act as it is, tell you whether the sandbox or a paired licence fits, and will not sell a Trinidad «licence» the regime does not currently offer. No selling a licence the regime does not offer.

Taxation of crypto companies in Trinidad and Tobago.

No crypto-specific corporate levy - company profits carry a 30% corporate rate, with 35% for certain sectors, so the classification and tax plan are set deliberately from the start.

30% corporate rate

The general corporate income tax rate is 30% on company profits. We model it carefully, because it is a real cost that structuring has to account for.The general rate - modelled carefully.

35% for some sectors

Banking, petrochemical and a few other sectors carry a 35% rate. A crypto operation is usually at 30%, but the classification is confirmed, not assumed.Classification confirmed, not assumed.

VAT considerations

Trinidad and Tobago's VAT applies to supplies in the usual way; how it maps onto crypto fee income depends on the activity. We plan the position rather than assume an exemption.Service-specific - planned, not assumed.

Securities treatment matters

Where a token is treated as a security, the tax and regulatory picture can shift. We map it with the TTSEC position in mind, not after the fact.Shifts the picture - mapped with TTSEC in mind.

The rate shapes structure

At 30%, Trinidad and Tobago is a moderate base. For internationally-facing models, we model whether a local company is the operating heart or one node in a wider, honestly-disclosed structure.T&T as the heart, or one honest node.

Records serve both

The FIU AML record-keeping the route requires also underpins the tax position - compliance-grade books double as tax-office-grade books.Compliance-grade books serve tax too.

FAQ

The Trinidad and Tobago crypto route, answered honestly.

Is there a crypto licence in Trinidad and Tobago?+

There is now a VASP Act (2025), but it is not an open licensing counter. It sets a transitional prohibition on virtual-asset services, with a TTSEC-run regulatory sandbox as the lawful way to operate during the transition. So the honest answer is a sandbox authorisation, not a simple licence you can buy.

Can I just set up a company and run an exchange?+

Not for virtual-asset services. Outside the TTSEC sandbox, VASP activity is under a temporary prohibition while the full framework is built. A company plus AML alone does not authorise it - the sandbox authorisation is the gate. Private individuals can still hold and transact crypto for themselves.

What is the TTSEC sandbox?+

A monitored environment run by the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission in which authorised VASPs may operate during the transition, under set parameters including AML/CFT/CPF controls. A limited number of providers have been recognised in it.

Who handles AML?+

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). A VASP runs a full AML/CFT/CPF programme - KYC, monitoring, reporting and a named compliance officer - supervised through the FIU. The Central Bank (CBTT) is relevant on payments.

Are tokens treated as securities?+

They can be. The TTSEC has taken the position that certain crypto-assets may qualify as securities, assessed case by case, which affects how an offering or product is regulated. We map that for your tokens before you build.

What if I need to operate now?+

Then pairing is usually the answer: a licensed jurisdiction to be live now, with a Trinidad and Tobago application prepared as the full framework matures. We sequence both honestly rather than promise an immediate local licence.

How are crypto companies taxed?+

A 30% corporate rate on company profits, with 35% for certain sectors. We confirm the classification and plan the VAT position rather than assume it.

Why Trinidad and Tobago with you?+

Because we read the Act as it is - sandbox, prohibition, FIU AML, securities status - and tell you whether the sandbox or a paired licence fits. We build the structure to the standard the TTSEC monitoring expects.

Is there a crypto licence?+

A VASP Act (2025), but transitional - the route is a TTSEC sandbox authorisation.

Company and go?+

No - services are prohibited outside the sandbox; that authorisation is the gate.

The TTSEC sandbox?+

A monitored environment for authorised VASPs during the transition.

Who handles AML?+

The FIU - a full AML/CFT/CPF programme with an officer.

Tokens as securities?+

They can be - the TTSEC assesses case by case.

Operate now?+

Pair a licensed jurisdiction; prepare the T&T file.

Company taxes?+

30% corporate; 35% for some sectors.

Why with us?+

We read the Act as it is and fit the right route.
