, the east coast zone for goods.Fujairah Free Zone licenses trading, warehousing and manufacturing companies under an authority set up in 1987: an FZE with one owner, an FZC with several, or a branch of your company, owned up to 100%. Trading licences cover import, export and re-export. We are equally plain: FFZA's fees, visa quotas and capital are confirmed per case, mainland sales need a permit, distributor or branch, and the free zone 0% covers only qualifying income of a Qualifying Free Zone Person.East coast zone, authority set up in 1987: FZE, FZC or branch, up to 100% owned; trading, warehousing and manufacturing licences. A zone for goods on the east coast, with the numbers settled by quote.
The Fujairah government lists three main areas for setting up a business in the emirate: Fujairah Free Zone, Creative City and the Fujairah mainland. Of the three, this zone's licences are built around goods. Its authority, FFZA, was established in 1987. A trading or general trading licence covers importing, exporting and re-exporting the commodities agreed on it, freely in the zone and outside the UAE. A warehousing licence is obtained by leasing warehouse space, which you can then run as a distribution hub. Manufacturing is licensed on approval and implementation of the project, judged on space, power, water, manpower and environmental impact, with staff and machinery fully insured. The company can be an FZE with one owner, an FZC with several, or a branch of a company you already own, and owners can hold up to 100%.
We publish only what official sources confirm, and for FFZ that leaves gaps. Fee amounts, visa quotas, minimum capital and the rules on directors and managers are not among them, so we confirm each with FFZA for your case and itemise the fees in the quote. The procedure we can cite comes from the Ministry of Economy's 2021 profile of the zone: a security application for each applicant first, then the company application. Mainland sales need a route. The Authority can arrange special permits for local distribution, and the federal options are a licensed distributor or a mainland branch or company. Corporate tax is 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000, and the free zone 0% applies only to qualifying income of a Qualifying Free Zone Person that meets the conditions.
One of three Fujairah set-up routes, with Creative City and the mainland. Trading licences cover import, export and re-export in the zone and outside the UAE; warehousing needs a leased warehouse; manufacturing follows project approval. FZE, FZC or branch, up to 100% owned.
The plain part: FFZ fees, visa quotas, minimum capital and officer rules are not in our official sources, so we confirm them with FFZA. Mainland sales need a permit, a distributor or a branch. Corporate tax is 9% above AED 375,000 unless income qualifies for the QFZP 0%.

Federal corporate tax applies; the free zone 0% has conditions.
Federal corporate tax applies in Fujairah Free Zone: 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it, for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. A Qualifying Free Zone Person pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on other taxable income, only while it meets the conditions. Among them are adequate substance, audited accounts, transfer pricing compliance and non-qualifying revenue within 5% of total revenue or AED 5,000,000, whichever is lower. VAT is 5%, with registration mandatory above AED 375,000 of taxable supplies and imports a year. Withholding tax is 0%, and individuals pay no personal income tax.0% to AED 375,000 and 9% above; QFZP 0% only on qualifying income, on conditions such as substance and audited accounts; VAT 5%; WHT 0%; no personal income tax.
On taxable income above AED 375,000, with 0% below it. Return and payment are due within nine months of the year end.Above AED 375,000.

Can I set up a Fujairah Free Zone company without flying in?+
We confirm that with FFZA for your file, because the official sources we use do not say whether registration runs fully remotely. The Ministry of Economy's 2021 profile asks each applicant for a passport copy, an Emirates ID copy and two photos for the security application, so we check what FFZA accepts from a founder with no UAE residence. Corporate owners' papers are attested by the UAE Embassy in their home country, since the UAE is not party to the Apostille Convention. A residence visa needs you in the UAE, where the medical test and the Emirates ID application are done.
How much does it cost?+
Our registration work starts from $2,900; with a UAE bank account set up, from $5,400. Zone fees come on top: we quote FFZA's current fees for your case. We print only figures we can trace to an official source, and FFZ's fee amounts are not among them. The Ministry of Economy's 2021 profile of the zone does list the fee heads: company registration, a security application fee, visa and immigration fees, social development fees, Emirates Post services, and water and electricity from FEWA.
Is a Fujairah Free Zone company tax-free?+
No. Corporate tax is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above. The free zone 0% rate applies only to qualifying income of a Qualifying Free Zone Person that meets the conditions, which include adequate substance, audited accounts and non-qualifying revenue within 5% of total revenue or AED 5,000,000, whichever is lower. For a trader this is the hard part. Beyond the de minimis allowance, income from mainland or foreign customers qualifies only for listed activities, such as trading qualifying commodities or distribution in or from a Designated Zone, and whether FFZ is a Designated Zone is something we verify for your case. The Fujairah portal's line about no corporate tax is out of date.
How long does registration take?+
The procedure we can cite is in the Ministry of Economy's 2021 profile: the security application takes 5-7 days, and once all documents are submitted companies are registered within one hour. We confirm current timing with FFZA and put it in your quote; visas follow the licence. Corporate tax registration is due within three months of incorporation under FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024, which the FTA's registration page still cites, and the FTA's stated processing time is 20 business days.
Can a Fujairah Free Zone company sell to customers on the mainland?+
Through a route, not on the free zone licence alone. For local distribution, the Fujairah portal says the Authority can arrange special permits with the relevant government departments, and we ask FFZA what it will issue for your goods. The federal rule is that a free zone company reaches the mainland through a licensed mainland distributor or its own mainland branch or company. Goods pay customs duty when they move into the mainland, generally 5% of CIF value, and a QFZP's mainland branch is taxed at 9%.
Which facility do I need, and how many visas come with it?+
FFZA provides trading offices, warehouses and land to suit the project, and its site has pages for flexi desks, virtual offices, open land and custom-built units. A warehousing licence needs a leased warehouse, and the licence itself follows your lease agreement with the Authority. Visa numbers are the gap: we found no official FFZ quota to cite. Federal guidance says the number of visas depends on factors such as the package you sign up for, so we confirm your allocation before you sign the lease.
What does an FFZ trading licence cover?+
Importing, exporting and re-exporting the agreed and specified commodities written on it, freely in the zone and outside the UAE; the Fujairah portal groups trading and general trading together. A warehousing licence adds a leased warehouse you can run as a distribution hub. Manufacturing needs the project approved and implemented, fully insured. List every product line before the application; adding goods later is a question we put to FFZA first.
How does banking work for a Fujairah Free Zone company?+
The 2021 profile lists a no-objection letter for opening a bank account among the documents FFZA issues with the licence. The Company + Bank Account package covers the rest: we shortlist UAE banks or EMIs that fit your profile, prepare the KYC file (source of funds, contracts, business plan) and support the bank meeting, in person or by video where the bank allows. Each bank sets its own criteria and timeline. The dirham is pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725.
What does a Fujairah Free Zone company file every year?+
FFZA's licence term, renewal deadline and late fees are missing from the official texts we can cite, so we confirm them for your licence. Under federal law the company keeps UBO and shareholder registers and records UBO changes within 15 days. The corporate tax return and payment fall due within nine months of the year end. Keep records for seven years. Audited accounts are required for QFZP status or revenue above AED 50,000,000, and we ask FFZA whether it wants them in other cases. E-invoicing follows: companies under AED 50,000,000 of revenue appoint an accredited service provider by 31 March 2027 and go live by 1 July 2027.
Fujairah Free Zone or Creative City?+
Both are in Fujairah, and the emirate's government lists both as set-up routes. Creative City is a media zone that also lists general commercial activities; it publishes packages from AED 3,999, says licensing can be completed remotely, states no specific capital requirement and offers a dual licence option with the Fujairah mainland. FFZ's licences are built around goods (trading, warehousing and manufacturing), with warehouses and land to lease. For a service or media business Creative City is usually the simpler fit; for stock, storage or a production line, FFZ is. We compare both for your plans before you choose.
