Why Anjouan

The fast, low-cost iGaming license.

Anjouan — an autonomous island in the Union of the Comoros — has run a statutory online-gaming regime since 2005: defined rules and oversight, but far faster and cheaper than Malta or Curacao. It’s a favourite for startups, crypto casinos and operators targeting emerging markets.

One license, every vertical

A single B2C license covers online casino, sports betting, poker, slots, live games, lottery, bingo and eSports — no separate permits, no sub-licenses.

0% gaming tax, low fees

No tax on gross gaming revenue and a regulator fee from around €17,000 a year — among the most affordable licenses on the market.

Fast & remote

Often live in 2–6 weeks, with no local office, director or staff required — the whole setup runs remotely.

Built for growth markets

Widely used to reach Asia, Africa and Latin America, and accepted by many game suppliers and payment providers.

Crypto-friendly, still compliant

Licensed crypto gambling is permitted, with proper AML/KYC, responsible gaming and RNG certification expected.

One firm, end to end

Company, the AOFA application, AML, technical certification and ongoing renewals — handled in one place.

Anjouan gaming — your questions

Anjouan gambling licensing, answered.

What is an Anjouan gambling license?
It’s an online gaming license issued by the Anjouan Offshore Financial Authority (AOFA) under Anjouan’s Computer Gaming Licensing Act (2005). One B2C license lets you run an online casino, sports betting, poker, slots, live games, online lottery and bingo for international players — every online gambling vertical under one permit. The same thing is searched in many wordings — an “online casino license in Anjouan”, an “online gambling license in Anjouan”, an “internet casino license in Anjouan” or an “online lottery license in Anjouan” — and all of them are this one Internet Gaming Licence.
Why choose Anjouan over Curacao or Malta?
Speed and cost. Anjouan is often live in 2–6 weeks, with a regulator fee from around €17,000 a year, 0% gaming tax and no local office or director — far lighter than Curacao’s new LOK regime or Malta. The trade-off is that it’s an offshore license aimed at emerging and lightly-regulated markets.
Does it cover sports betting, poker and lottery too?
Yes — one umbrella B2C license covers online casino, fixed-odds and in-play betting, virtual sports and esports, poker, slots, live games, lottery and bingo. You don’t need separate permits per vertical.
Do I need a company or office in Anjouan?
You need a company, but it can be incorporated in Anjouan or another jurisdiction, and no local office, director or staff is required. We handle the incorporation and the whole application remotely.
Can my casino accept crypto?
Yes — Anjouan permits licensed crypto gambling under the standard license, provided you run proper AML/KYC and source-of-funds checks. No separate crypto license is needed.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
Often 2–6 weeks from a complete file — among the fastest anywhere. The regulator fee starts around €17,000 a year (a single license covers up to two domains); total first-year cost depends on the company and package, and there is no minimum capital. We give you a fixed fee up front.
What is the tax in Anjouan?
For offshore IBC operations there is 0% tax on gross gaming revenue and no corporate income tax on offshore income. You remain responsible for taxes in the markets where your players are.
Which markets are restricted?
Anjouan licenses are for international markets but exclude some countries — including the USA, UK and several EU states (France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria), Comoros itself and FATF-blacklisted countries. We help you set the right geo-restrictions.
Do you guarantee the license will be granted?
No one honestly can — the regulator decides. We prepare the company, fit-and-proper file, AML, responsible-gaming and technical documents to the standard the AOFA expects and manage their questions, which is what gets files approved.
How do players and partners verify my license?
Every licence appears in the public licence register maintained by the Authority, which anyone can search to confirm your status. Licensees also display the interactive licence seal on the site under the Authority’s seal policy, and certificates can be checked through the Certificate Verification Framework. We complete the register entry and the seal setup as part of the engagement.
What about B2B — software, platform and aggregation?
Anjouan issues a separate B2B service-provider licence for platform, software, RNG and back-office suppliers to licensed operators. Since July 2025 third-party suppliers working with Anjouan licensees must hold either that B2B licence or a Recognition Certificate. We advise which route fits and prepare the application.
What are the ongoing obligations once the license is granted?
The licence runs 12 months and is renewed annually. During the term you keep the AML/CTF controls and a designated compliance officer, run responsible-gaming measures including age verification and self-exclusion, use certified random number generators, segregate player funds from operational funds, and file the periodic compliance reports on the Authority’s timetable. We handle the reporting calendar and the renewal.
